The Danube-Neckar Bike Trail connects the **Danube Bike Trail** in the [Danube Uplands](https://www.donaubergland.de/region/) with the Neckar Valley Bike Trail toward the source of the Neckar in Villingen-Schwenningen, two of the most popular **[state-level long-distance bike trails](https://www.aktivmobil-bw.de/radverkehr/infrastruktur/landesradfernwege)** in Baden-Württemberg. This is one of the most interesting bike tours in Baden-Württemberg. It connects the state’s two most important rivers, the Danube and the Neckar. It also connects two of the state’s most popular bike paths, the Danube Bike Path and the Neckar Valley Bike Path. The Danube-Neckar Bike Trail is thus an important link for the bike trails through the Danube Uplands. At the starting point in Immendingen, it’s worth taking a short detour to see the Danube’s subsidence area with its first two main sinkholes. The Danube’s subsidence is a phenomenon unique in the world: here, on many days, the Danube disappears into the ground and thus splits into two streams. One part flows underground into the Rhine system and then, along with the Rhine, into the North Sea. The other part, which does not sink or seep away, flows above ground through ten countries all the way to the Black Sea. You’ll encounter the theme of water on the tour, not only along the Danube and at the Danube seepage area at the start, but also at numerous other locations: the Amtenhauser Bach, the Talbach, the Krähenbach, the Riedwiesensee, the Schönbach, the Gaugersee near Trossingen, the Troase natural swimming area, and finally the Neckar. The tour includes a few minor climbs. In the opposite direction (from the Neckar to the Danube), it is an easy tour.
