Welcome to Danube ford

The Danube ford between Immendingen and the Tuttlingen district of Möhringen in the Donaubergland region. At the Danube’s largest main infiltration point, it is possible on many days of the year to cross the Danube on foot or by bike without getting wet.

Between Immendingen and Möhringen, there is a ford across the Danube riverbed. This is the spot where the Danube runs dry most frequently throughout the year, especially during the summer months. In a sense, this is where the phenomenon of the Danube seepage in the Donaubergland region is most frequently and clearly visible and can be best experienced.

The city of Tuttlingen has made this special spot accessible to visitors here in the Möhringen district as part of the "Landschaftspark Junge Donau" project:

On the one hand, there is access from the Danube Cycle Path, which is marked by blue steles. Alternatively, you can easily walk down from the "Donaufurt" parking lot (on the road from Möhringen to Hattingen) and often find yourself right in the middle of the Danube (or at least in its dry riverbed).

Large stepping stones in the Danube mark this important ford here. These allow you to cross the Danube even when the water level is low.

When the water level is higher, these are naturally submerged, making it impossible to cross the ford.
