Welcome to Premium hiking trail DonauWelle Donauversinkung

A premium trail around the Danube sinkhole in the Danube mountain region. It is called the "DonauWelle kurios" (Danube Wave Curiosity) and leads to numerous holes in the ground! Geological sensations between the karst mountains of the Swabian Alb and the volcanism of the Hegau. The DonauWelle Donauversinkung premium trail near Immendingen is one of currently six premium trails in the Danube mountain region. On the tour, there are two extraordinary natural phenomena of the region to discover: the Danube sinkhole with its main sinkholes, a globally unique geological phenomenon, and the Höwenegg volcano, one of the northernmost Hegau volcanoes, with its fascinating natural lake in the middle of the forest. The tour starts right next to the main sinkholes of the Danube near Immendingen. There you can stop for refreshments and a rest at the "Nina's essART" kiosk, either before you start or at the end of the tour. The tour leads to the Danube ford between Immendingen and Möhringen. In the summer months, you can even hike part of this section – at your own risk – in the dry riverbed of the Danube.  A surprise and highlight of the tour is certainly Höwenegg, where a shimmering green-blue lake suddenly appears at the edge of the forest. It is the result of basalt mining in earlier decades. The basalt rock from this Hegau volcano was well suited for road construction. The tour leads through beautiful forest passages and is therefore particularly suitable as a summer tour.
