Welcome to Danube Bike Country Tour 8

The Danube-Neckar Cycle Route connects the **Danube Cycle Route** in the **[Danube mountain region](https://www.donaubergland.de/region/)** with the Neckar Valley Cycle Route towards the source of the Neckar in Villingen-Schwenningen, two of the most popular **[long-distance cycle routes](https://www.aktivmobil-bw.de/radverkehr/infrastruktur/landesradfernwege)** in Baden-Württemberg. This is one of the most interesting bike tours in Baden-Württemberg. It connects the two most important rivers in the state, the Danube and the Neckar. It also connects two of the most popular bike paths in the state, the Danube Cycle Path and the Neckar Valley Cycle Path. The Danube-Neckar Cycle Route is therefore an important link for the cycle paths through the Danube mountain region. At the start in Immendingen, it is worth making a short detour to see the Danube sinkhole with the first two main sinkholes. The Danube sinkhole is a phenomenon that is unique in the world: here, the Danube disappears into the ground on many days and splits into two parts. One part flows underground into the Rhine system and then with the Rhine into the North Sea. The other part, which does not sink or seep away, flows above ground through ten countries to the Black Sea. Apart from the Danube and the Danube seepage at the start, the topic of water is encountered at numerous points along the tour: the Amtenhauser Bach, the Talbach, the Krähenbach, the Riedwiesensee, the Schönbach, the Gaugersee near Trossingen, the Troase natural swimming pool, and finally the Neckar. The tour has a few minor climbs. In the opposite direction (from the Neckar to the Danube), it is an easy tour.
